Global Playground Initiative

Global Playground Initiative is a three-part international cultural festival celebrating traditional children’s games from around the world — hosted annually in Ann Arbor, Michigan and streamed globally.

While rooted physically in Ann Arbor’s arts-forward community, the initiative operates internationally through live-streamed programming, downloadable lesson plans, and digital toolkits for educators and families worldwide.

Each event highlights a distinct cultural tradition of play. Children participate in music, movement, storytelling, and collaborative games that reflect global heritage while building empathy and curiosity.

Ann Arbor becomes the temporary stage. The world becomes the audience.
